Correction of dark circles in the tear trough has never been easier. Through injections of the latest generation of hyaluronic acid, it is now possible to act directly in the area under the eyes, achieving a youthful and rested look.
But how does the tear trough filler work?
What is the tear furrow filler
Dark circles under the eyes are a constant presence for many people. These halos occur in a color between gray and blue. They are caused by a concentration of melanin or a particular dilation of capillaries, but also by stress and lack of sleep. They make our eyes look tired, aged.
Thanks to tear furrow fillers, it is possible to obtain a quick and painless solution that acts directly on such halos, restoring youth to our face.
The procedure is based on the insertion, through special syringes, of hyaluronic acid-based solutions that cover the affected area.
How the tear trough filler works
Before undergoing this noninvasive procedure, it is necessary to determine if you are a good candidate. Medical history, presence of allergies to certain components, baseline situation, and desired effects are analyzed.
In case you decide to proceed, on the day of the procedure you have to go to the doctor’s office where the infiltration will take place.
First, the doctor disinfects the skin to prevent the occurrence of infection. In some cases, a topical anesthetic may also be applied to reduce the perception of pain and limit the appearance of bruising.
After preparing the hyaluronic acid-based solution, he inserts it inside a syringe that is in turn connected with a dedicated needle, proceeding with insertion under the eyelids.
During the injection, the needle is gradually removed, and the doctor performs a gentle massage to distribute the solution evenly.
The procedure is then repeated on the other side.
The results of the treatment
Similarly to other fillers such as the zygomatic filler or the mentum filler, in the tear furrow filler the first results are visible immediately after the procedure.
In the following days, the skin will follow a process of adaptation with the inserted filler, which will gradually integrate with the surrounding tissues. As a result, the final results will be visible after about 2 weeks.
What I need to know before undergoing a filler treatment
There are some considerations that are good to know before undergoing the injection described.
Let’s start with pain, one of the biggest concerns for those who have never had it before. Even if the perception of pain is subjective, most patients speak of a “supportable discomfort”rather than pain. In case one is very sensitive, the doctor may also apply a topical anesthetic to reduce the feeling of discomfort.
As for the days before surgery, it is advisable to avoid the use of alcohol or smoking especially in the 24 hours before. Following the injections, it is then recommended to avoid intense sports activity for 2 days, apply ice and avoid sleeping with face down.
