Trapianto Di Capelli FUE

FUE hair transplantation is an increasingly popular type of autotransplantation worldwide. Its peculiarity is due to the transfer of follicular units between areas of different densities without the need to remove any portion of the skin.

What is a hair transplant

Undergoing a hair transplant is still the only medical solution for growing back hair in completely hairless areas.

It is based on removing follicular units from an area of higher density, such as the occipital area, and implanting them to areas of lower density, such as fronto-temporal areas.

The transplanted hair will grow back as normal hair, and the first results will be visible a few months after the operation.

FUE and FUT autotransplantation

.There are two distinct classes of hair transplantation: the FUE technique and the FUT technique.

In the case of FUE, which stands for “Follicular Unit Extraction,” each follicular unit is individually removed from the scalp through micro-incisions.

The follicular units are then placed in a sterile solution until the extraction process is complete.

At this point, the surgeon proceeds with the opening of micro-channels in the recipient area, into which the extracted follicular units will be implanted.

In the DHI version of FUE, the follicles are implanted at the same time as the channels are created in the recipient area.

The FUT, an acronym for “Follicular Unit Transplantation,” differs from FUE in that a portion of skin is removed from the occipital area from which to harvest the follicles.

Disadvantages of FUE hair transplantation

There are several reasons why so many patients resort to FUE:

  • Phase post-operative: compared with FUT, there is generally less pain. The procedure is less invasive and allows you to resume your daily routine more quickly.
  • Scar: through FUE, you do not have a long scar in the occipital area as with FUT. This makes one less likely to notice that one has undergone surgery.
  • Duration of effects: If performed in a medical center of excellence, FUE can give permanent results.

Can I undergo FUE hair transplantation?

It is necessary to have certain characteristics to undergo FUE hair transplantation:

  • Age: It is recommended to be older than 30 years old. This factor is more important from a psychological point of view as you have more awareness of your body and what you want to achieve.
  • Donor area: To undergo FUE, the donor area must have enough availability to cover the recipient areas. It is also possible to extract follicles from the chest or beard.
  • Hair: depending on the type of hair loss, FUE transplantation may or may not be the best choice.

Hair transplant for men

FUE hair transplantation was introduced to combat the signs of hair loss in men.

It can be conducted at any age from 25-30 years old, depending on one’s condition and the advancement of thinning.

In men, FUE is definitely indicated in cases of partial thinning in areas such as the forehead, temples, and vertex. For extensive areas (sixth/seventh degree Norwood scale), a thorough evaluation and a likely strategy imprinted with dual surgery is required.

Hair transplantation for women

This type of transplantation is also applicable in the female case.

In women, hair loss is related to a number of different factors such as genetics, lifestyle but also pregnancy.

The goal of FUE in this case is to increase hair density since in women the thinning is distributed along the entire scalp. The donor area will be carefully evaluated; if it is not subject to diffuse miniaturization, the surgery can proceed.

Pre-operative preparation

The phase preceding an FUE hair transplant is very important for obtaining good results. Among the main considerations that need to be taken care of are:

  • Do not take alcoholic substanceswithin the 72 hours prior to the procedure
  • Don’t smoke (possibly quit altogether)
  • Don’t cut your hair, the medical staff will take care of it.
  • Avoid the use of minoxidil unless advised by the doctor himself

Risks of FUE hair transplantation

It is important to contact the clinical facility in which you had surgery in cases where, after surgery, you experience:

  • Cutaneous infections
  • Continuing pain and swelling
  • Blooding from extraction or implantation sites
  • Formation of crusts in the treated areas
